Shreeram Aradhye, M.D., brings over 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in clinical development and medical affairs to Axcella.

Prior to joining Axcella, Dr. Aradhye built an accomplished career at Novartis. For over two decades he served in multiple leadership roles of increasing responsibility in Development and Medical Affairs, across multiple therapeutic areas and geographies.

In his most recent role as CMO he was a member of the Global Pharmaceuticals Executive Committee responsible for over $20B worldwide business and provided medical expertise on portfolio strategy and led governance of medical activities worldwide. Dr. Aradhye was also a Member of the Development Committee of Novartis that oversaw Global development activities across their portfolio. In previous roles at Novartis and Sandoz, he has led the clinical development program for Gilenya® in MS, provided functional leadership for clinical development and medical affairs teams working on novel and biosimilar medicines across multiple therapeutic areas and headed Global Development for Neuroscience where he oversaw a portfolio of programs in MS, Alzheimer’s Disease, Neuropathic pain, muscle disease and migraine.

Prior to industry, Dr. Aradhye was Assistant Professor of Medicine and Attending physician transplant nephrologist at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Aradhye received his medical education at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India, and in Internal Medicine and Nephrology in the United States.

The power to end suffering and heal.

Photography - walking around with my Leica and noticing and capturing life as frozen moments.

Primo Levi - his book “If this is a man”

Favorite movie? 
Love Actually - I love everything about this movie and have watched it many times.

Favorite vacation destination?  
Venice - I am obsessed with this city and photographing it by night, in black and white.
